OCEN SGO wants to make participation in the SGO as effortless as possible for OCEN member schools. Rather than a school taking on the administrative burden of managing its own SGO, joining OCEN SGO is a way for a school and its students to receive all the benefits of its own SGO with next to none of the work. The following enumerates what responsibilities OCEN SGO and the school take on in the partnership:

OCEN SGO will:

 Establish the controlling 501(c)(3) organization and file for SGO certification with the
Attorney General.
 Maintain a governing board of directors.
 Establish financial procedures and controls for proper oversight of all donated funds.
 Establish an OCEN SGO website to receive donor gifts and student scholarship
applications.
 Thank, receipt, and track all donations; communicate with donors to develop an ongoing
relationship.
 Manage student application process, including establishing scoring criteria and a system
for compiling student scores; ensuring prioritization of low-income students; partner with
schools to ensure the best possible applicants receive the awards; and communicate the
award to scholarship recipients.
 Maintain appropriate controls so that each gift is credited solely to the school fund that
was indicated by the donor.
 Make final decisions regarding scholarship recipients and the award amounts.
 Transfer to schools the cumulative scholarships funds awarded to the students of each
school prior to the beginning of the school year, with the amounts designated for each
scholarship recipient indicated in the communication.
 Maintain all legal requirements and compliance with SGO rules.
 Complete all necessary filings with the state.
